Computing awards PhotosGavin Topley (KITC coordinator), Luca Passone (KITC consultant), Tony Baker (client) and Rodric Yates attended the 2008 Computing Awards event in Battersea Parc. The Text a Car project was shortlisted with 6 others for the Student Project of the Year. We had the opportunity of chatting to some of the other entrants and we realised we had some fierce competition. After a very entertaining evening with Rob Brydon as the compere, the winner for the Student category was announced from Dundee university. We were disappointed but we had known it wasn’t going to be easy and the experience we gained will certainly help with any future submissions. Well done to all involved!
Kent IT Clinic Shortlisted for Computing awards for excellence 2008The Computing Awards for Excellence, now in their 16th year, recognise and reward the very highest standards of individual and collective achievement. The Computing Awards are the most sought after awards in the industry, recognising excellence and exceptional performance, which was demonstrated in the KITC entry. The judges had a hard job narrowing down a shortlist from an extremely high quality and number of entries this year, so it is a significant achievement to have been shortlisted. This is the second time that the IT Clinic has been shortlisted. Simon McCarthy was put forward in 2006 for his contribution to the support of the Rochester Cathedral network. The current entry is Luca Passone for his role as project leader in developing a mobile booking system for Text-A-Car - a Thanet taxi firm Congratulations to the all the consultants involved with this project.
